Chime is a bank account that lives entirely on your phone, which means the app and its login are the whole vault door. With your money, card and direct deposits behind it, securing that login is essential. Our GetMyPassword team covers how to change your Chime password, reset it when you are locked out, and protect your account from the scams that target it.

Change your password in settings
- Open the Chime app and tap your profile or Settings.
- Find the Security or account settings section.
- Select Change password.
- Enter your current password, then a strong new one, and save.
Because Chime holds your money, give it a password you use nowhere else — long, random and unique.
Reset a forgotten password
On the login screen tap Forgot password? and enter your email. Chime sends a reset link; open it and create a new password. You may need to confirm your identity, so keep the email and phone number on your account current and secure — they are how you get back in.
Know how Chime contacts you
Scammers love app-only banks because there is no branch to walk into. Remember: Chime will never ask for your password, PIN or a one-time code by phone, text or email, and will never tell you to move money to “protect” it. Real support happens inside the app. Any message pressuring you to share a code or transfer funds is a scam, full stop.
With an app-only bank, the scammer’s goal is to get you to do the work — share a code, approve a transfer, hand over your login. No real Chime employee will ever ask for those, no matter how urgent the call sounds.
Secure it with a unique password and 2FA
Give Chime a unique password from our password generator, store it in a password manager, and turn on every security feature offered — two-factor authentication, app lock and transaction alerts. Protect your phone number against SIM swaps too, since it guards your reset codes. Together these keep your money where it belongs.
