Discord sits at the centre of a lot of people’s gaming and community life, so losing access — or spotting a login you don’t recognise — is more than a minor annoyance. Changing or resetting your password takes a couple of minutes whether you remember the old one or not. We at GetMyPassword walk you through resetting a forgotten password, changing it on desktop and mobile, and keeping your server life secure.

Reset a forgotten Discord password
- Go to discord.com/login and click Forgot your password?
- Enter the email tied to your account.
- Open the reset email from Discord and follow the link.
- Create a new password and sign in.
If you registered with a phone number instead, choose the phone option, enter your number, and use the verification code Discord texts you to authenticate and set a new password.
Change your password on desktop
If you still know your current password and just want a new one, on the desktop or web app:
- Click the Settings gear next to your username.
- Open the My Account section and click Edit.
- Enter your current password, then your new one, and save.
Change it on mobile
In the Discord app, tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner, then under Account Settings tap Account → Password. Enter your current and new passwords and tap Change Password. The change applies everywhere you’re signed in.
Changing your password logs you out of other sessions — a quick way to boot off anyone who got in. Right after, turn on two-factor authentication so a password alone is never enough.
Keep your account out of the wrong hands
Discord accounts are heavily targeted by token-stealing scams and fake “free Nitro” links, so a strong, unique password is essential. Generate one with our password generator and confirm it with the strength checker. Never reuse your gaming password on email, and be wary of any link asking you to “verify” your login.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset my Discord password if I forgot it?
Go to discord.com/login, click Forgot your password?, enter your email, then open the reset email and follow the link to set a new password. You can also reset via your registered phone number.
How do I change my Discord password on mobile?
Tap your profile picture, go to Account, then Password, enter your current and new passwords and tap Change Password.
Will changing my password log me out everywhere?
Yes. Changing your Discord password ends your other sessions, so any device using the old password must sign in again — useful if you suspect someone else had access.
