Reset a forgotten Spotify password
- Open Spotify’s password reset page and enter the email address or username on your account.
- Click Send link. Spotify emails you a message titled “Reset your password for Spotify” — the link is valid for two hours.
- Click Reset password in that email.
- Type a new password twice and click Set Password.
Your new password must be at least 10 characters and include at least one letter and one number or special character.
Change your password while signed in
If you still know your current password and simply want a fresh one, you don’t need an email at all. Log in at spotify.com, open the Change password page in your account settings, enter your current password followed by the new one twice, and click Set new password. It’s good practice to do this any time you’ve shared your account or used it on a public computer.
No reset email? Here’s what to check
- Look in spam and filtered folders. Automated reset emails are often misfiled.
- Confirm you have access to that inbox. The link only works from the email address tied to your account — if you signed up through Facebook, Google or Apple, use that button to log in instead of a password.
- Act within two hours. After that the link expires and you’ll need to request a new one.
Make the new password a strong one
Streaming accounts get hijacked constantly because people reuse the same simple password everywhere.
