How to Change Your Walmart Password and Secure Your Account

How to change a Walmart password

Your Walmart account keeps your saved cards, your address, your order history and any Walmart+ membership in one place — convenient for you, and valuable to anyone who breaks in. A strong password and two-factor authentication keep it locked down. Our GetMyPassword team covers how to change your Walmart password, reset it when you are locked out, and keep your account secure.

Change your password in account settings

  1. Sign in at walmart.com and open your Account.
  2. Go to Account settings, then the sign-in or security section.
  3. Select Change next to Password.
  4. Enter your current password, then the new one, and save.

If you sign in with Google or Apple, Walmart has no separate password — manage your login through that provider instead.

Reset a forgotten password

On the sign-in page click Forgot password? and enter your email. Walmart sends a reset link or code; follow it to create a new password. Because the reset goes to your inbox, keeping your email account secure is what ultimately protects your Walmart access.

Watch for delivery and order phishing

Big retail accounts attract a familiar scam: a text or email about a “problem with your order”, a “delivery on hold,” or a “reward you’ve won,” with a link to a fake login page. Walmart will not ask you to log in or confirm card details through a link in a message. When in doubt, open the app or type the address yourself and check your orders there.

A hijacked shopping account means orders shipped on your card and your address in a stranger’s hands. The unique password you would use for your bank is worth using here too.

Secure it with a unique password and 2FA

Give Walmart a password you use nowhere else, created with our password generator, and turn on two-factor authentication in your security settings. With a unique login and a habit of ignoring “order problem” links, your cards and your address stay protected.
