Your Xfinity password guards more than your email — it’s the key to your bill, your account details and the settings for your home internet. If it’s been compromised, or you simply can’t remember it, changing it takes only a couple of minutes. We at GetMyPassword walk you through resetting a forgotten Xfinity password, changing it while you’re signed in, and the one thing people always confuse it with: the separate password for your Wi-Fi router.

Reset a forgotten Xfinity password
If you can’t sign in at all, start the recovery flow from the official page:
- Go to xfinity.com/password and enter your Xfinity ID, email or mobile number.
- Choose how to verify it’s you — by text, email or a security question.
- Enter the code Xfinity sends you.
- Create a new password and sign back in to confirm it works.
Forgotten your Xfinity ID as well? On the same page choose Forgot Xfinity ID first, recover the ID, then reset the password.
Change your password while you’re signed in
Already logged in and just want a fresh password? On the website go to Account → Account and Identity → Xfinity ID and Security → Change Password. Prefer your phone? Open the Xfinity app and tap Account → Account Settings → Xfinity ID and Security → Change Password. It’s worth doing this every few months, and immediately if you ever get a “new sign-in” alert you don’t recognise.
What your new Xfinity password must contain
Xfinity enforces a real strength policy, so a throwaway password won’t be accepted. Your new one needs to be:
- at least 8 characters long;
- a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters;
- at least one number;
- at least one special character such as ! @ # $ %.
The easiest way to satisfy all four rules at once is to let a tool build the password for you. Our password generator produces a compliant, random string instantly, and the strength checker shows you just how resistant it is before you save it.
Account password vs Wi-Fi password: don’t mix them up
This trips up almost everyone. The password you’ve just reset signs you in to your Xfinity account. The password your devices use to join your home network is a separate Wi-Fi password, changed inside the Xfinity app under your network settings or in your gateway’s admin panel. Changing one does not change the other — so if your goal was to stop a neighbour using your internet, head to the Wi-Fi settings instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset my Xfinity password if I forgot it?
Go to xfinity.com/password, enter your Xfinity ID, email or phone number, verify your identity by text, email or security question, then create a new password and sign in to confirm.
What are the Xfinity password requirements?
At least 8 characters, with at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number and one special character such as ! @ # $ %.
Is my Xfinity account password the same as my Wi-Fi password?
No. The account password signs you in to xfinity.com and the app; the Wi-Fi password lets devices join your home network. They are changed in different places and are independent of each other.
