Change Netflix Password: Secure Your Streaming Account

How to change or reset your Netflix password

Whether someone’s been watching shows you don’t recognise or you just can’t sign in on a new TV, changing your Netflix password sorts it out in under a minute. And because Netflix can sign every other device out at the same time, it’s also the fastest way to kick off anyone who shouldn’t be using your account. We at GetMyPassword walk you through changing the password when you know it, resetting it when you don’t, and locking your account back down.

Change your Netflix password when you know it

If you’re already signed in, a fresh password is a few clicks away:

  1. Go to Account → Membership & Billing → Change Password on the Netflix website.
  2. Enter your current password, then your new one twice.
  3. Tick the option to sign out of all devices if you want to force everyone to re-enter the new password.
  4. Click Save.

Can’t get in at all? On the Netflix login page, select Forgot password? and choose how to recover it:

  • By email — enter your email and tap Email me; Netflix sends a reset link.
  • By text — enter your phone number and tap Text me to get reset instructions by SMS.

Follow the link or message, create a new password, and you’re back in. If you no longer have access to the email or phone on the account, Netflix can sometimes verify you using the credit card on file instead.

Why “sign out of all devices” matters

This little checkbox is the most important security step. When a password leaks, the old one stays saved on every TV, phone and games console it was ever typed into. Signing out of all devices invalidates those saved logins, so anyone using your account is locked out until they enter the new password — which they don’t have. Always use it if you suspect your account was shared too widely or compromised.

Reused a password across Netflix and your email? Change both. Attackers who find one streaming password immediately try it everywhere else.

Make the new password a strong one

Pick something long and unique rather than a small tweak of the old password. Our password generator creates one instantly, and the strength checker shows how well it would hold up. If juggling unique passwords feels like a chore, let your browser remember them safely — our password manager guide explains how.
