Slack is where a lot of work lives — private messages, files, and conversations a company would never want exposed. If you sign in with an email and password rather than single sign-on, that password is worth protecting carefully. Change your password in account settings
- Sign in to your workspace and open your profile, then Account settings (at my.slack.com).
- Find the Password section and click Expand.
- Enter your current password, then your new password.
- Click Save Password — you stay signed in on that device.
If your company uses single sign-on (Google, Okta or similar), Slack has no separate password — you manage access through that provider instead.
Reset a forgotten password
At the workspace sign-in screen, click Forgot password? and enter your email. Slack sends a reset link; open it and choose a new password. Because the reset goes to your inbox, a secure email account is what ultimately protects your Slack access — keep that login strong too.
Sign out of other sessions
Changing your password does not automatically end other active sessions. In Account settings you can sign out of all other sessions — do this after any suspected compromise, or when you have used Slack on a shared or old device. It instantly cuts off anyone still signed in elsewhere.
