Delete Password from Chrome: Manage Your Browser Security!

How to delete saved passwords from Chrome

Chrome saving your passwords is convenient — until you’re handing the laptop to a family member, selling it, or just want to clear out logins you no longer use. Removing them is quick, but there’s a permanent catch worth knowing first. We at GetMyPassword show you how to delete a single saved password or wipe them all from Chrome, on desktop and mobile, and how to do it safely.

Delete a single saved password

  1. Click the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right of Chrome.
  2. Go to Settings → Autofill and passwords → Google Password Manager.
  3. Select the website whose login you want to remove.
  4. Click Delete to remove just that entry.

This is the tidy option — useful for clearing one old account without touching the rest.

Delete all saved passwords at once

Want a clean slate? There are two routes:

  • Via Clear browsing data: open Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data, choose the Advanced tab, set the time range to All time, tick Passwords and other sign-in data, and click Clear data.
  • Via Password Manager: in Google Password Manager, open Settings and choose Delete all Google Password Manager data.

Both methods work on the desktop and mobile versions of Chrome.

Deleting saved passwords is permanent — Chrome can’t restore them afterwards. If a login isn’t stored anywhere else, make sure you know it before you delete it.

Mind the sync setting

One thing to watch: if you’re signed in to Chrome and syncing, deleting a password removes it from every device using that Google account, not just the one in front of you. To clear passwords only on a shared or borrowed computer, sign out of Chrome first, or remove your profile entirely when you’re done.

A better habit than deleting

If you’re deleting passwords because Chrome feels insecure, the fix usually isn’t to stop saving them — it’s to protect the vault. Add a strong device login and turn on your Google Account’s two-step verification, as we explain in our guide to Google Password Manager. And when you replace a weak password you just removed, generate a strong one with our password generator.
